Sorolla Sports Club

Playing sports is a fundamental pillar within the educational project. We firmly believe it improves people’s quality of life and is good both for the body and the mind. Our goal is for students to play sports daily. Physical activity helps consolidate neural connections created during the day. Therefore, we practice sports an average of 4 days a week, combining physical education, swimming, and dancing. In other words, playing sports helps students learn.

The objective of the physical education class is to help our students stay in shape and help them discover the sports they like most. We use this subject to teach values such as companionship, sportsmanship, fair play, honesty, sacrifice, or respect. In addition, we periodically hold adapted sport daysin collaboration with the Spanish Paralympic Committee.

We host an annual Gala that brings together elite athletes, families, and teachers in our school to convey to our students the importance of being a person of integrity and values. The Liceo Sorolla’s “Sports Values Gala” recognizes values in sport and values in life. During 8 consecutive editions we invited athletes that have inspired our students and their families with their behavior. We have hosted former Real Madrid player, Raúl González Blanco, Jorge Garbajosa, president of the Spanish Basketball Federation, Enrique Cerezo, Atlético de Madrid´s president and Paralympic medalists Teresa Perales, Xavi Torres and Enhamed Enhamed, among others.

We also offer multiple extracurricular sports activities during lunch time and after class, as well as trips and camps. All our coaches are alumni currently pursuing their university degrees. This strategy allows us to transmit the traditional values and culture of our school to the new generations.
